The privacy and security of your personal information is important to Kinside, Inc. (“Kinside”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). If you have any questions at all about this Privacy Policy, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@kinside.com.

1. Applicability of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) applies to www.kinside.com along with any web applications, including all related documentation, that link to or reference this Privacy Policy (“Site”) and any products or services provided or otherwise made available on or through our Site (“Services”). It explains how we collect, use, share, and otherwise process information relating to natural persons (“Personal Information”) and describes certain legal rights you may have, subject to applicable law, and how you can exercise them.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our privacy practices. If we do, we will post the updated Privacy Policy on our Site and update the “Last Updated” date at the top of the page. You are advised to review this policy periodically to stay informed of our practices. If we make changes that materially affect your rights or our obligations, we may provide you with additional notice, such as posting a statement on our Site or sending notice to the primary email address specified in your account. Material changes will go into effect 30 days following such notification, at which point we will update the “Last Updated” date on this Privacy Policy. Non-material changes or clarifications will take effect immediately.

2. What Information Do We Collect?

We collect, store, and use the following categories of information, which includes Personal Information.

Information you give us:

For Parents/Legal Guardians:

  • Your name, work email address, telephone number, and employer name, and a password we ask you to generate when you create an account on our Site.
  • Your child’s first name and last name initial as well as your child’s month and year of birth.
  • Your financial and billing information (including payment card information and bank details)
  • Your responses to surveys that we may ask you to complete for research purposes or to help direct Kinside activities.
  • Other Personal Information you voluntarily submit, which may include your profession, gender, date of birth, profile picture, and any other information you choose to provide.
  • Any information you share when you contact us.

For Child Care Providers

  • Your name, email address, postal address, zip code, country, telephone number, and any other information you share when you create an account on our Site or otherwise access our Services.
  • Your financial and billing information (including payment card information and bank details)
  • Your responses to surveys that we may ask you to complete for research purposes or to help direct Kinside activities.
  • Other Personal Information you voluntarily submit, which may include your profession, gender, date of birth, profile picture, and any other information you choose to provide.
  • Any information you share when you contact us.

For Employers

  • Your company name, company description, email address, postal address, zip code, country, telephone number, and any other information you share when you create an account on our Site or otherwise access our Services.
  • Your financial and billing information (including payment card information and bank details)
  • Your responses to surveys that we may ask you to complete for research purposes or to help direct Kinside activities.
  • Other details about you that you voluntarily submit, which may include number of employees, demographics, etc.
  • The name, email address, job title, telephone number, and other contact information of your representative.
  • Any information you share when you contact us.

Information we get from your use of the Site or Services:

  • Details of how you use the Site or Services.
  • Your internet protocol address (i.e., IP address) and, if you access the Site or Services from a mobile application, your unique mobile device ID number and non-email authentication.
  • Details of financial transactions you participate in on the Site or through the Services, including the amount, currency, and method of payment.
  • Browser and device information and information collected through Tracking Technologies (defined below), such as cookies, pixel tags, and other technologies.

Information we get from other sources:

We may also obtain Personal Information from other sources. For instance, we may collect Personal Information about you from:

  • Your employer;
  • Your employee group benefits administrator;
  • Payment processors, in relation to transactions you conduct through our Site or Service; and
  • Publicly available sources.

3. How Do We Use The Information We Collect?

We use the information we collect for a variety of purposes, including to improve the Site and Services, optimize our technology, refine and customize our offerings and user experience, and innovate ways to advance our mission to provide universal access to quality child care for all working parents.

In particular, we use the information we collect to:

  • Administer the Site and provide the Services, enable you to use its features, and improve the overall user experience.
  • Communicate with you through email, text, SMS, telephone, or any other medium for which we have contact information so that we can provide you with information and updates about us, our work, and our community.
  • Send information including confirmations, invoices, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages.
  • Respond to comments and questions and provide technical support and customer support.
  • Analyze how registered users use the Site and Services using tools like Google Analytics and other tools to help us understand traffic patterns and know if there are problems with the Site and Services.
  • Create targeted advertising to promote the Site and Services and engage the community and our registered users.
  • Enable you to communicate with other Kinside users (for example, contacting a childcare provider to request a tour).
  • Purchase products and make payments through our Site;
  • Protect, investigate, and deter against fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity.
  • Link or combine user information with other Personal Information.
  • Compare information for accuracy, update our records, and verify it with third parties.
  • Carry out any other purpose described to you at the time the information was collected.

4. Do We Share Your Personal Information?

We do not rent, sell, or share your Personal Information with non-affiliated third parties except with your consent or as described below.

To help us do our work, we may provide limited access to some of your Personal Information to the following third parties:

  • Service Providers: We work with a wide range of third-party providers, notably our database administrators, cloud computing services, advertising services, data analysts, application service providers, bulk SMS services, and other non-governmental organizations. We do not authorize them to use or disclose your Personal Information except in connection with providing their services.
  • Childcare Service Providers: As part of the Kinside Services, you may be able to request services from certain childcare-related service providers and their agents. When you request such a service, we may share your Personal Information with such entities so that they may be able to provide the services you requested.
  • Payment processors: We work with payment processors to help process credit card transactions and other payment methods made through the Site and Services. These payment processors will store certain information about you. The payment processors we currently work with are Stripe and Silicon Valley Bank. We also use Plaid to authenticate banking details. You may refer to each of these companies’ privacy policies to learn more about how they use your Personal Information.
  • Employers: If you receive access to our Services through your employer as a childcare benefit offered to employees, we may share certain data with your employer in the context of providing you with our services and to help your employer improve the quality of the services it offers
  • Employee Group Benefits Administrators: If you receive access to our Services through your employee group benefits provider, we may share certain data with your administrator in the context of providing you with our services and to help your administrator improve the quality of the services it offers.
  • Companies under common control: We may share data between and among any current or future parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and other companies under common control and ownership with Kinside.
  • Other Kinside Users: We may offer features that allow users to post to public or semi-public portions of our Site. For instance, we may offer the ability to post reviews of childcare providers. You do not have to use these features, but if you do, please use good judgment. Certain information such as your username and any other information you disclose in these public or semi-public areas may be read, collected, stored, or used by others.

We may also transfer your Personal Information to a third party as a result of a merger, acquisition, reorganization or similar transaction; when required by law or to respond to legal process; to protect our customers; to protect lives; to maintain the security of the Site or Services; and to protect the rights or property of Kinside.

We may also share Personal Information with companies, organizations, or individuals outside of Kinside if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosure of your Personal Information is reasonably necessary to (1) detect or protect against fraud or security issues, (2) meet any enforceable government request, (3) defend against legal claims, or protect against harm our legal rights or safety, or that of our staff or registered users.

In addition, we may share aggregate or de-identified information, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for various purposes including compliance with various reporting obligations; for business or marketing purposes; or to assist third parties in understanding our users’ interests, habits, and usage patterns for certain programs, content, services, advertisements, promotions, and/or functionality available through the Services. For instance, we may provide de-identified information relating to demand for childcare services by zip code with childcare providers interested in determining where to site new locations.

5. Tracking Technologies, such as Cookies and Web Beacons, and How Do We Use Them?

We, or third parties we do business with, may use certain technologies to automatically collect log files and other information about your usage of, and the devices you use to access, the Site and the Services (“Tracking Technologies”). For example, we may use Tracking Technologies like cookies, log files, web beacons, or similar technologies to help us analyze our web page flow; customize our services, content and advertising; measure promotional effectiveness; and promote trust and safety.

Even if you are only browsing the Site or Services, certain information (including computer and connection information, browser type and version, operating system and platform details, and the time of accessing the Site or Services) is automatically collected about you. This information will be collected every time you access the Site or Services and it will be used for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.

You can reduce the information that cookies collect from your device. An easy way of doing this is to change the settings in your browser. Our third-party advertising service providers may also use web beacons to recognize you when you visit the Site or access the Services and to help determine how you found the Site or Services. 6. How Do We Secure Your Personal Information?

We take reasonable steps to protect your Personal Information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, misuse, or destruction. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Kinside cannot and does not guarantee absolute security. The safety and security of your Personal Information also depends on you. If you are a registered user, you are solely responsible for keeping your login and account details confidential, including any access credentials like passwords or mobile device PINs.

7. Your Rights Regarding Your Personal Information

You have certain rights with respect to the use of Personal Information on our Site or Services:

Delete or Correct Personal Information. You may access, correct, amend, or delete Personal Information we have about you by logging into your account and navigating to your account page or by emailing us at info@kinside.com. For your protection, we may only share and update the Personal Information associated with the specific email address that you use to send us your request, and we may need to verify your identity before doing so. We will try to comply with such requests in a reasonably timely manner. If you wish to cancel your account, you may do so through your account page. If you do, personally identifiable information associated with your account will be deleted as soon as is reasonably practical or as required by applicable law. Please note that we may retain information that is otherwise deleted in anonymized and aggregated form, in archived or backup copies as required pursuant to records retention obligations, or otherwise as required by law.

Opting Out of Email Marketing. We may use some of the information we collect about you for marketing purposes, including to send you promotional communications about new Kinside features, products, events, or other opportunities. If you wish to stop receiving these communications, you can opt out at any time by following the instructions included in those emails. It may take up to 10 days for us to process your request, and you may continue receiving promotional communications from us during that period. If you opt out of receiving such communications, please be aware that we may continue to send you service-related communications, including emails related to our business relationship and notices of any updates to our Privacy Policy, terms of service, or other online agreements or policies.

Limiting Information in Your Account. You can control the information we collect about you by limiting what information you provide through your account. Please note that if you chose not to provide certain information, it may make it difficult or impossible for you to access some services.

9. How We Respond to Do Not Track Signals

Kinside does not currently change its behavior in response to web browser “do not track” signals. However, you can configure most browsers to reject cookies or to notify you when you are sent a cookie, giving you a chance to decide whether or not to accept it. You can consult the help section of your browser to find out how to do this. In the event that a universally accepted standard emerges on how organizations should response to “do not track” signals, we will assess and provide an appropriate response to those signals.

10. Children

The Services are directed to adults and we do not solicit nor knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold where applicable). If you believe that we have unknowingly collected Personal Information from your child, please contact us immediately at info@kinside.com and the information will be deleted.

11. Users Outside of the United States

Kinside is based in the United States. The Site and Services are controlled and operated by us from the United States and are not intended to subject us to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country, or territory other than that of the United States. Your Personal Information may be collected, transferred to, stored and otherwise processed in any country where we have facilities or in which we engage service providers, and by using the Site or Services you consent to the transfer of information to countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States, which may have data protection rules that are different from those of your country.
