Children's Center

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Children's Center was established in 1996 to provide children with a rich and caring environment. The center provides an atmosphere that promotes development of self-esteem, creativity, and an interest in exploring and discovering.

Mission

The mission of the Children's Center is to provide a high-quality, nationally accredited child care service with education opportunities for children and families at a reasonable cost.

The Children's Center staff members encourage children to grow and successfully learn in their individual way. Our curriculum nurtures children in all areas of development.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is that young children grow and flourish in a positive, stimulating environment. Our teachers facilitate play activities throughout the day which support children's natural desire for learning.

In addition, children learn to be inquisitive, confident, and responsible...building blocks for future success.

Purpose

Provide families of all races, cultures, special needs, and economic groups reliable, affordable child care
Provide a welcoming, supportive environment for children and families
Support educational and employment opportunities for university students
Provide a model environment in which students can observe and implement theories and practices taught in academic child-related courses
Serve as a research site for students learning about child development and early childhood education

Accreditation

The UW-Platteville Children's Center on campus holds a five-star rating and meets the highest levels of quality standards through YoungStar, a program of the Department of Children and Families created to improve the quality of child care for Wisconsin children.

Additionally, the center is nationally accredited through National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA) which was created to encourage the availability of high-quality early education programs.
