Alpha Kids Academy was founded in San Francisco, CA in April 2012 by 2 early childhood educators and childhood friends, both moms of 2 kids who believe in the value and uniqueness of each child. Our childcare experience is designed to promote each child’s own individual social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. As parents, caregivers and educators, our mission is to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment, which
fosters a child’s natural desire to explore, discover, create, and become a lifelong learner. It is our mission to provide a warm and safe environment, which enables children to develop cognitively, emotionally, physically and socially. We offer an educational environment and developmentally appropriate experiences. Children are encouraged to be involved in first hand opportunities and experiences for self-discovery and self-exploration. Children are motivated to explore the world around them through teacher directed activities as well as free play.
Curriculum at Alpha Kids Academy includes the child-initiated and teacher-directed activities and experiences offered to young children that support and enrich their development physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Each classroom has weekly lesson plans, posted in the classroom. These plans contain a number of activities, designed to foster each child’s development, and the development of the group as a whole. Lesson plans may be changed in order to accommodate the children’s changing interests.
Each classroom is set-up in centers, which include blocks, dramatic play, books, gross motor, fine motor, and art. Outdoor play is important to a child’s physical development and must be included in both the morning and afternoon schedule. Self selection or “free-play” is a daily part of the curriculum and means a child has the opportunity to choose which center or activity he/she participates in. This promotes creative expression and development of important social skills.
Alpha Kids Academy is dedicated to setting the standard for excellence in early childhood education, care and development. Children are encouraged to learn and grow by providing a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences where all children can succeed in a safe and nurturing environment while fostering positive and respectful interactions with others.
Our preschool program offers an inclusive setting that recognizes children's diverse abilities, interests, needs, and learning styles that would be most beneficial for years to come. Children are encouraged to learn through meaningful play and academics with daily opportunities that reflect the integration of physical, cognitive, social & emotional, language, self-help and aesthetic areas for the whole development of the child. Meaningful play promotes curiosity, discovery and problem solving which allows individual growth and development of a positive self-image.
The program values teachers, parents and the community as partners in our children’s education and development. Professional, competent, and caring staff and an outstanding ratio of adults to children create a comfortable and nurturing learning atmosphere, which completes our exciting program.
